In 1980, thanks to the encouragement, generosity, and support of many small specialty shop owners in the Seattle area, Mother Sperry piloted 600 pounds of plum pudding. That tiny, but popular production run flew out the doors of several remarkable specialty foods shops. By 1986, with the help of a business partner, production had grown to nearly 5,000 pounds.
In recent years, having acquired age along with remarkably little wisdom, Mother now handmakes and ages 1,500 – 1,600 pounds of plum pudding a year. In short, Mother Sperry’s Plum Pudding is a Nanozon — i.e. NOT an Amazon — and is managed accordingly.

Most of the nano-profits earned by Mother Sperry’s Plum Pudding go to a scholarship fund for students who live in Seattle Housing Authority residences (low-income public housing).
